WHAT?
Embryo Transfer is the procedure where the embryos formed by IVF or ICSI are transferred back in the uterus.
Embryo transfer is a simple, painless procedure similar to IUI, a very thin and malleable catheter carrying embryos is passed from the cervix into the uterine cavity where the embryos are transferred under USG (sonography) guidance.
Patient has to keep the bladder full for the procedure as it provides easy visualization. Patient can leave the clinic after 1 or 2 hours of resting in the hospital.
Embryo transfer services are available in Vasai for couples undergoing fertility treatments such as IVF.
Fresh Embryo Transfer (ET):
In this method, the embryos are immediately transferred on Day3 or Day5 as they are formed and the remaining can be cryopreserved.
Whether to do the fresh transfer or not will depend on your uterine
Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET):
Embryos can be frozen on Day 2, Day 3 or Day 5 stage. You can freeze the embryos for your future reproductive use.
Embryos are cryopreserved in Liquid Nitrogen (-196°C).
These embryos are thawed and checked for survival, they are incubated for 1 hour prior to transfer.
PRECAUTIONS POST ET/FET:
All the prescribed medicines should be continued until the day of blood tests or scan.
First 48 hours post procedure are crucial.
Avoid sexual intercourse after procedure.
No dietary restrictions or bed rest is compulsory.
Be careful enough to not contract any infections, fever etc.
